Govt to Reward 16 Lucky Taxpayers This Friday

The government is about to make 16 regular taxpayers very rich this Friday as part of a new “Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program.”

Here is exactly how the giveaway works:

The Prizes:

  • 15 people will receive 1 lakh each (after tax deduction).
  • 1 person will win the “Bumper Prize” of 1 million (subject to tax).

Who is Eligible?

  • Anyone who made purchases between July 1 and July 15.
  • Digital Payments: If you paid via bank or wallet QR code, you are automatically entered.
  • Cash Payments: If you paid with cash, you must request a PAN/VAT bill, upload it to the Inland Revenue Department’s website, and get a coupon to be entered.

When is the Draw?

  • The winners will be announced this Friday.

The Bigger Picture:

  • Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced this program in the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 to encourage people to pay taxes.
  • This will be a monthly event. Draws will happen on the 16th of every month (for transactions from the 1st to the 15th) and on the last day of the month (for transactions from the 16th onward).

What’s Next?

The Inland Revenue Department has already briefed the Finance Minister on the selection system and confirmed that all technical preparations are complete for Friday’s big announcement.
